Today our Acting Executive Director Mr. Sylvester Namiwa took part in the Human Rights Defenders Coalition (HRDC) organised demonstrations.

HRDC leadership honoured him with an invitation to the podium to make some few remarks.

In brief comments he made at Kamuzu Central Hospital roundabout and at Parliament building before a petition was delivered, he emphasised that Malawians must choose leaders of high integrity and visionary. He also reminded the incumbent president Peter Mutharika to respect court decisions.

During the march, HRDC has emphasised the need for the national assembly to make sure that Malawians exercises their voting right to choose president of their choice on June 23, 2020.

The petition asks the national assembly to ensure that the set date for elections remains untouched and demands immediate stepdown of Chief Elections Officer, Sam Alufandika and two newly appointed commissioners; Linda Kunje and Jean Mathanga for being incompetent in the last elections.
